STREET SAFE |
Dear Valley Ward Members,
StreetSafe is a Metropolitan Police service allowing the public to anonymously report safety concerns in public places, such as poor lighting, vandalism, or areas where they feel unsafe. It is a non-emergency tool used to inform police of areas needing improved safety measures and is not for reporting active crimes. Key Details About StreetSafe: Purpose: Helps identify areas where people feel unsafe to inform local police, councils, and partners to improve safety (e.g., increased patrols, better lighting). What to Report: Environmental issues (broken streetlights, abandoned buildings) or behaviors that cause discomfort (being followed, verbal abuse). Anonymity: Reports are completely anonymous. Limitations: It is not for reporting crimes or emergencies. Crimes should be reported via 101 or the Metropolitan Police website. Examples of Reported Situations: Poorly lit alleyways or streets. Areas with high levels of vandalism. Specific locations where you have felt uncomfortable or threatened. | ||
